Iron host Quad City Steamwheelers on Friday
The Milwaukee Iron are back home on Friday June 19th as they take on the Quad City Steamwheelers at 7:00 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The Iron are coming off a 63-28 loss to the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz, the Iron are 4-7 on the season. The Steamwheelers are coming off a 75-56 loss to the Kentucky Horsemen, the Steamwheelers are 4-7 on the season also. The Iron offense struggled all game against the Yard Dawgz and Todd Hammel had his first game against a good team and did not do well. Hammel needs to get play better this week and so does his offensive line, who gave up 7 sacks against Oklahoma City last week. The Steamwheelers defense has been struggling lately so hopefully the Iron offense can put up a lot of points, because even though the Steamwheelers are without starting quarterback J.J. Raterink, the Steamwheelers offense is still very good. They have one of the best wide receiving cores in the af2 that includes Jesse Schmidt, Kris Peters, Jack Walker Jr. Jesse Schmidt in my opinion is the best wide receiver in the af2. The Steamwheelers starting quarterback now is Brian Zbydniewski. This is a huge game, the winner will be in 3rd place in the af2 American Conference Midwest Division and will still legitimately have a chance at making the playoffs. I think the Steamwheelers will come out on top 63-55. Game time is 7:00, you can also watch the game on Time Warner Cable Channel 32 and Nifty-TV on your computer.

Iron fall to Oklahoma City 63-28
The Milwaukee Iron's two game winning streak came to an end as they lost to the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz last night 63-28. The Iron fall to 4-7 and the Yard Dawgz improve to 6-5. Iron quarterback Todd Hammel faced his first test of the season last night, Hammel has played two games for the Iron, and are opponents in those games are not very good. Hammel did not do so well last night throwing 4 interceptions and fumbled the ball twice, but it didn't help that he got sacked 7 times and that his offensive line didn't give him much help. But hey, how do you expect players to develop chemistry with Todd Hammel when he never practices with the team? That is such a joke that the Iron just went after this guy because he used to play for the Milwaukee Mustangs. You would think Coach Compton would have the common sense that your quarterback needs to practice with the team in order to be success on game day. We have a very good wide receiving core, I think it is arguably one of the best in the af2. We need a quarterback that actually has time to practice with the team. The Iron fell behind in a hurry in this one as they were down 34-14 at one point. The Iron's best chance to get back in this one was when it was 34-20 Yard Dawgz and the Iron just got a stop on defense and the offense had a chance to cut the lead to 7. The Iron's next game is Friday June 19th at home against the Quad City Steamwheelers. This is a huge game, it is a divisional game and both teams are 4-7 and are tied for 3rd place in the Midwest Division. I will have a preview of the game up later in the week.

Iron travel to Oklahoma CIty to take on the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz tonight
The Milwaukee Iron travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz tonight at 7:00 at the Cox Convention Center. The Iron are coming off a 58-47 win over the Mahoning Valley Thunder, the Iron are 4-6 on the season. The Yard Dawgz are coming off a 56-54 win over the Arkansas Twisters, the Yard Dawgz are 5-5 season. The Iron offense is on fire right now, quarterback Todd Hammel is playing great and his wide receiving core is playing very well. Antoine Burns, Scott Burnoski, Bryan Pray, and Kellen Allen are really stepping up. Hammel will face his first real test against the Yard Dawgz. Mahoning Valley and Albany are not very good. The Yard Dawgz high flying offense is led by quarterback Robert Kent, wide receiver Al Hunt, wide receiver Fred Shaw, and wide receiver Craig Fulton Jr. The Iron defense faces a big challenge, but I think they are up to it. They are playing well right now, Sammy Walker has done a great job with the defense. I think the Yard Dawgz will come out on top 62-48. Game time is 7:00, you can watch the game on Time Warner Cable Channel 32 and on Nifty-TV on your computer.

Time for new ownership for the Bonecrushers
The current ownership is an absolute joke, last season, no players and coaches were paid and this season some players and coaches were paid and some weren't. They never marketed the team, which is a reason why they only drew around 200 fans a game this season and the other reason why is because of the situation that happened with Gilbert Brown last season. If this team comes back, there is no doubt there has to be new ownership. There is no way the current owners have the money for another season. There are rumors about ownership groups interested in buying the team and if this is true and one of the groups buys the team, they need to change the team name. With everything that has happened with the Bonecrushers, the team needs a new name. No one in Milwaukee will support the Bonecrushers. I really believe that if there is a good ownership group that buys the team and the team has success on the field that the people of Milwaukee will support a CIFL franchise. Yes, it would be tough to compete with the af2 and the Milwaukee Iron, but as long as the new ownership group is a good and the team has success on the field, then I think the team will get at least some support no matter how the Iron are doing. The Iron got off to a rocky start, but are playing well right now, there attendance may not be the best, but the Iron are playing well now and are tied for 3rd place in the af2's American Conference Midwest Division at 4-6. The Iron may get back to averaging 5,000 fans a game like they did in there first home game if they keep winning. The Bonecrushers were getting good coverage by radio, TV, and newspapers before Gilbert Brown resigned last season. If there would be a new ownership group that would buy the Bonecrushers and change the team name, I think they would get decent coverage and draw fans.

Iron beat Mahoning Valley Thunder 58-47
The Milwaukee Iron beat the Mahoning Valley Thunder last night 58-47, Iron quarterback Todd Hammel was 25 of 39 for 337 yards and 7 touchdowns. Hammel has now thrown 14 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in his first two games with the team. The Iron improve to 4-6 and the Thunder fall to 1-9. It was the first home win for the Iron in franchise history. Wide Receiver Antoine Burns caught 4 touchdowns passes and that brings his total to 20 touchdowns for the season. Burns caught 8 passes for 112 yards and 3 touchdowns and also had a rushing touchdown. Wide Receiver Bryan Pray caught 7 passes for 79 yards and 1 touchdown. Wide Receiver Kellen Allen caught 6 passes for 77 and 2 touchdowns. Wide Receiver Scott Burnoski caught 3 passes for 58 yards and 1 touchdown. This offense is on fire now and are playing very well, granted there last two opponents are not very good, but the offense is still playing great and the defense also got back on track and played great last night as well. The Iron defense held the Thunder scoreless in the 4th quarter. The Iron's next game is Saturday June 13th as the Iron travel to Oklahoma City to take on the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. Kickoff is at 7:00 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City. I will have a preview of the game up next week.

Iron host Mahoning Valley Thunder tonight
The Milwaukee Iron are back home tonight as they take on the Mahoning Valley Thunder at 7:00 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The Iron are coming off a 66-63 win over the Albany Firebirds. The Iron are 3-6 on the season. The Thunder are coming off a 61-39 lose to the Kentucky Horsemen. The Thunder are 1-8 on the season. The Iron played very well last week, especially on offense with new quarterback Todd Hammel, who is 42, played a great game last week and can hopefully keep it up this week. The Iron struggled on defense a little last week, but hopefully bounce back this week against the Thunder who are currently on an 8 game losing streak. The Iron beat the Thunder earlier in the season 59-39 in Youngstown, Ohio. The Iron offense should have a great game tonight. Todd Hammel should have no problem finding Antoine Burns, Scott Burnoski, Bryan Pray, and Kellen Allen open. Pray caught 5 touchdown passes last week and Kellen Allen was activated from injured reserve yesterday. For the Thunder, starting quarterback Blake Powers was placed on injured reserve 2 days ago. Which means the Thunder's only quarterback Davon Vinson will get the start tonight. I think the Iron will come out on top in this one 55-34. Game time is 7:00 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee. You can also watch the game live on Nifty-TV.
